Is it just me, or do lemons make everything better? It’s silly, but the little Meyer Lemon tree in my courtyard has brought me so much joy this quarantine. So here’s to hoping that life has given you lemons – better yet, here’s to hoping that life has given you a lemon tree. And should you find yourself with an abundance of Mother Nature’s sweetest and sourest gifts, this is the recipe for you! It’s floral, smooth, and just the right balance between tart and sweet. It’s springtime in a glass. Feel free to use either fresh or dried lavender (or play with other herbs and make it your own!) and serve over ice to brighten your day.
Floral, smooth, and just the right balance between tart and sweet, this lovely lemonade can be made with either fresh or dried lavender.
Add your sugar, lavender and water to a pot and bring to a simmer.
Allow to simmer for 15 minutes, and then remove from heat.
Allow to cool for one hour.
Strain and add straight to your lemonade bottle.
Add your lemon juice, water and lavender simple syrup to a jug and shake or stir vigorously to combine. Feel free to experiment with how much water you add (instead starting with 8 cups, you can start with 6.5 and add from there depending how strong of a lemonade you'd like).
Serve over ice and smile because life is short.
